Poem by Jim Sommerfeldt

A Glimpse of Heaven
© 2011 Jim Sommerfeldt

An ocean world away
A gift was sent and delivered
When you heard of it that day
The day her spirit soared

The old king’s lake was deep
Surrounded by the snow capped mountains
Reflections on the blue
Broken by the wake

The boat was then made still
A horn was lifted to the clouds
The thrill of notes sang out
And echoed back to you

From out of the clouds and sky of blue
A gift was reaching out to you
A glimpse of heaven coming into view>

The gift was plain to see
A memory of a smiling woman
Weakened by disease
Her heart and spirit strong

The blessings that she gave
The secrets that she kept inside her
Were preparing you a way
A way you could fly free

Can you see her face
Can you see her love for you
And her freedom from the pain
That is her gift to you

From out of the clouds and the sky of blue
A gift was reaching out to you
A glimpse of heaven coming into view

In the waters of the lake
There was baptism and ascension
As the horn and echoes sang
As her spirit soared
